My name is Leah Pendergrass and I am so excited about my first year as Assistant Principal at Leeds Elementary School!!! I know this year is going to be phenomenal!
I grew up not too far from Leeds in Southside, Alabama and graduated from Southside High School in 2001. I moved to Birmingham and attended school at UAB (Go Blazers!). I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education in 2005. Following graduation, I accepted a first grade teaching position with Montevallo Elementary in Shelby County and taught there for 7 years. In 2012, I accepted a position as Elementary Math and Science Specialist with the Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative (AMSTI). In 2014, I returned to UAB and completed the Master's Program in Educational Leadership. Then in 2016, I completed the Educational Specialist Program in Educational Leadership at UAB.
I currently live in Calera, Alabama with my husband Brandon and our two boys: Caiden and Preston. We enjoy spending time together hiking, traveling, and visiting new places! I enjoy cooking, taking pictures, and cheering on my Auburn Tigers...War Eagle!
Education is my passion! I believe that school should be a warm, inviting, and safe place where students want to come and spend their time. I'm looking forward to meeting your children and getting to know your family! Please feel free to contact me with any questions you have!
It's going to be a great year at LES!
